In case your dishwasher is not draining properly, there are some solutions that you can apply to fix this problem. When the dishwasher not draining, you should repair or replace it depending on the case. Sometimes, the problem is just with the plumbing, and not on the dishwasher itself. 1. Check out the sink and assess if it is draining. In the event that your sink is not draining, the dishwasher itself will not drain as well.
2. Try to run the garbage disposer with water. There are many cases in which the dishwasher is set up in order to drain through a garbage disposer. Whenever food build up happens in it, there is a limited space where water can freely flow. So make sure you run the garbage disposer with water. This helps in cleaning up the accumulated debris that is often a cause of dishwasher not draining.
3. Check if the air gap is clean. Air gap is also important to check the reason for a dishwasher not draining. Sometimes, the blockage may be present between the garbage disposer and air gap. In order to clear and clean the air gap, try to locate the large tube that is connected to the garbage disposer. Clean any build up that might be presented in the said tube.
4. Check the connection of the garbage disposer and drain tube. Any blockage here may also cause for a dishwasher not draining. You can try inserting a screw driver into the small opening to clear any build up that you can see there.
5. Last but not the least, clean and clear the drain tube. You can do this by disconnecting the drain tube from the air gap. However, make sure that the dishwasher is not plugged when doing this. Check if debris has started to build up. If there is debris, clear it up before you reconnect the tube.
